
Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients
- – 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
- – 1/4 cup olive oil
- – 2 cloves garlic minced
- – 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- – 1 teaspoon paprika
- – 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- – 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- – Salt and pepper to taste
- – 4-6 pita breads
- – Tzatziki sauce store-bought or homemade
- – Chopped cucumbers tomatoes, onions, and parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken strips to the bowl and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, if using.
- Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Warm the pita breads by wrapping them in foil and heating them in the oven for a few minutes.
- Assemble the shawarma by slicing the grilled chicken into thin strips and placing them on the pita breads. Add tzatziki sauce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and parsley.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!

*Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe (optional):*

– 1/2 cup diced cucumber
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– Fresh dill, chopped (for garnish) Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
