August 2026 • Gold, Glory & Big City Energy

“Discover Johannesburg and Gauteng this August with Springboks vs All Blacks, Maxwell, Tamia, Afro Geek Fest, Festival of Motoring, Parklive Jozi, theatre, live music, family adventures and unforgettable experiences across the province.”

August arrives in Johannesburg with serious energy. The Springboks face the All Blacks at Ellis Park in one of the month’s defining sporting moments, while Maxwell and Tamia bring their celebrated R&B sounds to Pretoria for Women’s Month. Add Zee Nation Fest, Sjava and Lebo Sekgobela in concert, and House Afrika’s 30th Anniversary, and the soundtrack to August is already set.

But the city’s energy extends far beyond the big stages. Explore African creativity at Afro Geek Fest in Soweto, catch Swan Lake at Montecasino, laugh with Skhumba at the Market Theatre, or experience the immersive spectacle of Cirque Du Rave. For something different, the Festival of Motoring takes over Kyalami, while Liefde by die Dam, Parklive Jozi and Contra.Joburg bring music, art and community into the open air.

And beyond the city, August offers plenty of reasons to venture further—whether it’s the Bulls taking on the All Blacks at Loftus, an outdoor escape to Broederstroom, or a cultural journey through Pretoria and the East Rand. This edition is your invitation to discover a Gauteng winter filled with big moments, unexpected adventures and experiences worth remembering.
